A new Kyumbi Level 3 Community Hospital which was commissioned by Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti is expected to ease pressure on the Machakos Level 5 hospital and enhance healthcare provision for residents of Kyumbi and its environs.
The facility located along the busy Nairobi -Mombasa Highway is a gift from Property developers Purple Dot International ltd who are the developers of Serene Park Residential homes at the Kyumbi junction.
The fully-eqquiped hospital has Mother and Child Unit ,laboratory,X-ray room, special clinics, outpatient unit and a nursing station.
It has a 14-bed capacity spread across the various units.
While commissioning the new State-of-the-Art facility the Governor, who was accompanied by her Deputy Francis Mwangangi,Health Executive Dr Daniel Yumbya and other government officials said the new hospital together with the Community Health Promoter programme launched last week will ensure Mwananchi does not have to travel long distances to seek medical services.
She hailed the partnership between the county government and the donors coordinated by the governor’s Advisor Samera Aziz.
“Let us all embrace this remarkable achievement, working together to ensure that Kyumbi Level 3 Community Hospital stands as a testimony of what we can achieve when we come together for the greater good,”said governor Ndeti.
Initially there was a small dispensary at the site which was started by Governor Ndeti 15 years ago when she was the Member of Parliament for the larger Kathiani constituency.
She commended the doctors for their services and promised to continue looking into their welfare with regard to capacity building.
Health Executive Dr Yumbya assured the residents that there were enough drugs in hospitals depending on the level of the health facility.
Dr Yumbya said Machakos Level 5, Kathiani and Kangundo level 4 hospitals had now gone paperless as all documentation was now digitalised through the Information Management System for enhanced accountability.
The Kyumbi Level 3 Community Hospital is the first health facility to be opened by governor Ndeti since becoming governor of the county.
The County Government has also built other level 3 hospitals across the county which will be equipped and opened soon, governor Ndeti said
