Politicians are no exceptional to paying for licenses – Machakos Dg

Machakos Deputy Governor has warned politicians who are investing in avoiding taxation while still benefiting from their businesses.

Speaking during the burial ceremony of the Nairobi County Wiper Party Treasurer, the late Joshua Kitivi in Kalama, Francis Mwangangi said that nothing will change Machakos County’s requirements on paying taxes.

“It is obligatory for every member of the public to adhere to the law. Paying licences is constitutional and no one is exceptional. As leaders let us do the right thing,” he said.

Mwangangi recalled when he borrowed Governor Wavinya Ndeti Sh. 200, 000 to assist a family that their deceased person’s body was detained at Machakos Level Five Referral Hospital Mortuary for failure of unpaid bills.

“I personally borrowed Governor Wavinya Sh. 200, 000 to pay for a body that had been detained because of a bill that had accrued to Sh. 357, 000,” he said adding that, “The governor had the power to release the body but we cleared the bill because that money will go back the County and not an individual.”

Mwangangi encouraged members of the public to support the current County Government under the leadership of Governor Wavinya Ndeti saying that the County was in the right hands.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti were in attendance amongst other leaders.
