Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called on the exchequer to release funds since most counties are unable to execute most of their obligations.
Speaking during a burial ceremony of the late Betty Mutinda in Machakos, the governor said that when there are delays in exchequer releases, the devolved units are unable to undertake their day-to-day operations.
“I have paid all my workers but we have a problem with the exchequer. Release the money so that members of the public can benefit. This problem has become perennial.” She said.
At the same time Governor Wavinya encouraged musicians who had attended the burial ceremony to unite for their benefit.
“I have been supporting musicians across the Country and I will continue supporting the talent you have and the music industry as well.” She said.
She said that she was going to bring back ‘Machawood’ that will make Machakos County the hub for film, media and entertainment.
“Machawood is going to build an economy driven by the creative industry. We have set place mechanisms that will help the growth of the entertainment industry. Producers should start applying for jobs.” She said.
The event was also graced by Muvuti Kiima Kimwe MCA Joseph Mulinge and a battery of gospel musicians.
