Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has directed the department of public service to initiate a skills audit process for the county staff in order to enhance service delivery.
Speaking after overseeing the signing of performance contracts for Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers at her office, Wavinya said her administration will fast track the promotions of county staff who had stagnated in the same job group for many years.

“Part of the performance contracting is to ensure that staff who have stagnated for many years move upwards. All departments must undertake a skills audit for staff to ensure they are placed in their areas of competency for maximum output,” Governor Wavinya said.
Noting that the county was doing well at Own Source Revenue generation, the governor said part of the revenue will be ring fenced to finance promotions and staff welfare.
Wavinya challenged the chief officers to devote immense energy towards serving the residents and their respective staff as they do in pursuing procurement assignments.
