Machakos deputy governor urges Government to streamline Health Insurance

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has asked the National Government to streamline the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) to ease the suffering of Kenyans unable to access medical services due system failure.

Mwangangi faulted the government for spending time in impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua instead of dealing with issues that directly affect Mwananchi.

Speaking during the 80th anniversary of the foundation of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cathedral in Machakos, Mwangangi said Kenya was faced with many challenges including dealing with mysterious disappearances of citizens and unexplained murders which the government was not addressing.

“Today we continue paying for NHIF but no services are available as the new system is not in place. Hospitals including some owned by the Catholic church have huge bills due to the stalemate yet the leadership of this country continues to engage in useless pursuits like impeachment of the Deputy President.” He said.

He said there was need for the government to account for all the monies paid to NHIF which had ceased to function.

Mwangangi at the same time faulted Members of Parliament for seeking to change the constitution to extend the term limits for the president and other leaders saying that was not a priority for the country.
