My loyalty to Kalonzo is non-negotiable says Governor Wavinya

Machakos Governor, Wavinya Ndeti, and her deputy, Francis Mwangangi  have declared they will not be cowed into compromising their loyalty to Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka.

Addressing the faithful during a Sunday worship service at the African Church in Mitaboni, Kathiani Constituency, the two leaders vowed they will stop at nothing in their quest to rally the Akamba community behind Kalonzo’s 2027 presidential bid.

Invoking a recent incident in which officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) raided various county executive offices ostensibly to sniff around for evidence of corrupt dealings, Wavinya and Mwangangi threw barbs at unnamed individuals in former governor Alfred Mutua’s regime, accusing them of instigating a smear campaign against Wavinya’s government.

“Our loyalty to Wiper party leader Kalonzo is non-negotiable. We are aware that some individuals met somewhere and schemed against us by getting the EACC to stage a raid in our offices in order to trigger panic. But we are telling them that we will not be slowed down in our resolve to support Kalonzo because he is the leader of the party that we rode on to win the election,” Wavinya declared.

She went on, “They appear to be preoccupied with branding me a thief, yet we all know who the real thieves were. I have all the records of their dealings and I will soon unleash documents that show how they plundered the county.”

Wavinya said she was aware some sympathizers of the former regime who were beneficiaries of corruption were not happy after she introduced sweeping reforms in the revenue management sector that saw numerous graft taps run dry.

“When I took over, the hospital revenue was a paltry Sh 30 million in a whole year. As we talk now, the finance department is collecting nearly Sh 400 million in a similar period. Where was all that money going? No wonder some of the culprits have been lamenting that there used to be more money in circulation during the Mutua regime,” she said.

Deputy governor, Francis Mwangangi concurred with her boss, saying she had delivered much more development within the past two years compared to the entire two terms of the previous regime.

“I recently hosted a group of professionals from across the county and they were categorical that they cannot trace any meaningful development achieved in governor Mutua’s two terms in office. To the contrary, the residents of Machakos are feeling development in every corner of the county under Wavinya,” said Mwangangi.

Mwangangi said Wavinya’s approach of people-centered leadership had enabled her to be in touch with the electorate.
