Machakos Deputy Governor has strongly criticized President William Ruto over the government’s continued borrowing of funds.
Speaking during an engagement session hosted by one of the local radio stations at the Machakos University on Tuesday, Francis Mwangangi said that Kenya possesses sufficient resourses to become self reliant.
“Since devolution, Kenya has collected almost Sh 28 Trillion. Eighty eight per cent has been going to the National Government while the other thirteen percent to County Governments. Kenya does not need to rely on loans.” He said.
Mwangangi said that members of the public could not see where the money said to be borrowed to was going.
“The late former President Mwai Kibaki was no miracle. He tried to put as much money as possible into economic bracket. When President Ruto came in 2022, the Country had a total debt of Sh 8.5 Trillion. Today in a span of two years, Ruto’s administration has borrowed Sh 2.7 Trillion.” He said.
Mwangangi also expressed his frustrations of the Social Health Authority citing poor services and unclear implementation frame work.
