Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called upon the National Government and relevant security agencies to re-evaluate deployment strategies of Police officers in volatile and high-risk environments.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the family of the late Reuben Kianga in Matungulu, the Governor emphasized the need to prioritize the safety and longevity of young officers by pairing or replacing them with seasoned, battle-tested personnel in dangerous zones.
”It is heartbreaking to lose such a young life so early, especially one so committed to duty. While we honor the bravery of our young officers, we must also act responsibly to preserve their lives.” She said.
She urged the National Government to consider sending experienced, well-trained officers to handle high-risk operations.
“The Government should invest more in trauma support, protective gear, and situational training for all officers. The nation must not only mourn but also learn and act.” Governor Wavinya said adding that, ”Every officer who puts on the uniform is someone’s child, someone’s hope. We must do everything in our power to keep them safe while they serve.”
