The Bible Translation and literacy (BTL) organization has held the 4^th edition of the run for the Bibleless in Machakos.

Speaking at Machakos School grounds, Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti said translation of the Bible into indigenous languages was important in the Country.

“There are a number of communities in the Country that do not have the Bible translated into their languages. We are in support of this run because it will enable communities to read the scriptures in their own language.” She said.

She added that, “It was easier to internalize the Bible when it is read or translated to the local language of every other community.”

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba commended BTL for completing six whole Bibles and eleven new testaments.

“The Government recognizes the role played by indigenous languages and in line with the constitution we are committed to working with organizations like BTL to promote their development and use.” Ogamba said.

Executive director Bible Translation and Literacy East Africa Rev. Peter Munguti said that the Country has many communities that are yet to receive the scriptures for the first time in their language.

“BTL will continue translating the Bible and that is why we are running for the efforts to create awareness and to generate funds to support Bible translation to complete more scriptures.” He said.” He said.

Meanwhile, Machakos County held Blink Ride Day at the Machakos Peoples Park.

While representing Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti, Machakos youth, gender, sports and social welfare Executive Sharon Mutua said that the County had spearheaded the assessment of the PWDs within the County.

“The Governor has made sure in her budget of the previous financial year that she had allocated funds to buy assistive devices for the PWDs that will be given to identified PWDs during the course of this financial year.” She said.
