Alliance girls high school teacher sent on leave over sexual abuse allegations

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has suspended a teacher at Alliance Girls High School for 30 days over serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving students.

The teacher, identified as Peter Albert Ayiro, was sent on compulsory leave from 15th July 2025, after the commission received allegations against him for professional misconduct and breaches of multiple ethical and legal provisions under the TSC Act and the Code of Regulations for Teachers (CORT).

According to the letter of suspension, Ayiro allegedly violated Clause (a) of the Third Schedule to the TSC Act, Regulation 141 of CORT, and Clause 22 of the Code of Conduct and Ethics, with allegations pointing to cases of misconduct in duty at the school.

The allegations have sparked national outrage, with a demonstration held last week by shocked parents and former students outside the elite girls’ school. Protesters demanded justice for the victims and swift action against suspect teacher.

TSC stated it made the decision to suspend Ayiro to ensure that the investigation remains independent and impartial, given the gravity of the claims. The teacher is accused of grooming students for sexual relationships, a charge that has raised alarm about student safety in boarding institutions.

“Due to the gravity of these allegations and the need to conduct independent and impartial investigations into the matter, and pursuant to the provisions of Regulation 136 of the CORT, the Commission has decided to send you on Compulsory Leave for 30 days with effect from July 15 2025,” the letter reads.

Ayiro shall nonetheless enjoy his full pay and allowances during the period of suspension, just as the law requires.

TSC said that once investigations are complete, it will communicate the finding and take action in accordance with established disciplinary rules.
