Chama Cha Uzalendo party (CCU) has issued a show cause letter to Kalama Ward MCA Boniface Maeke over his public support for a rival candidate in the upcoming Mumbuni North ward by-elections.
The party’s leadership through a press statement, it’s Secretary General Philippe Sadjah has demanded Maeke to justify his actions within 7 days which they deem detrimental to the party.
“The attention of the Party has been drawn to your conduct on 25th September 2025 where you were seen actively campaigning for Mr. Harrison Wambua a candidate of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, in the Mumbuni North Ward by-election despite Charna Cha Uzalendo having a duly nominated candidate in the same race, Mr. Richard Nzioki Mbolu.” A section of the statement read.
Sadjah, stated that the issuance of the show cause letter was not merely procedural but stems from desire to uphold the principle of loyalty and commitment within the ranks of CCU.
“Such conduct undermines the integrity, unity and political strategy of Chama Cha Uzalendo especially during an active electoral process. For the avoidance of doubt , section 14 of the political parties act 2011 provides that a member who promotes the interests of another political party is deemed to have resigned from their political party.” The letter read.
Sadjah warned Maeke’s failure to respond by the stipulated deadline of 3rd October 2025 will compel the party to take appropriate action in accordance with the political parties act and the constitution of Chama Cha Uzalendo.
