Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has criticized Labour and Social protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua over his remarks aimed at Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration.
Speaking after a Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Machakos town, Mwangangi said that Mutua’s behavior reflects poorly on the political decorum expected from a person in his position.
“It is bad manners for Mutua to talk ill about his successor Wavinya Ndeti while he has his own share of blame.” Mwangangi stated.
Mwangangi added that the issues raised by Mutua are misguided and fail to consider the underlying legal frameworks that guide the county’s operations.
“I want to clarify that the fees imposed regarding hospital levies are not arbitrary but are rather a regulatory measure directed by the National Government, where Mutua serves as CS.” He said.
Mwangangi defended the policy of charging public toilet fees, explaining that the initiative aims to generate revenue to employ youth responsible for maintaining these essential facilities.
He also urged the government to step up and engage in dialogue to resolve ongoing strike by University lecturers.
“Mishandling higher education could have dire consequences for the nation. Education remains a crucial pillar for the country’s future.” Mwangangi said.
As Mwangangi rallied support for unity among the Kamba community, he invoked the leadership of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, positioning him as a potential beacon of hope amidst Kenya’s economic challenges.
