A section of Machakos Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have expressed their discontent with President William Ruto’s remarks regarding the Kamba community during Mashujaa Day celebrations held at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui.
Leading the charge was nominated MCA Dee Kivuva who in his statement posed a critical question to President Ruto, “Since you were Deputy President, is it now that you’ve realized Ukambani needs development?”
He added that, “The Kamba community feel that promises of development have not materialized despite their contributions to the national treasury through taxes.” Dee said.
Kyeleni MCA Grace Bahati popularly known as ‘Zora’ lent her voice of dissatisfaction saying that the government has a tendency to promise funds without delivering tangible benefits.
“The money the Ruto administration has been dishing out is something we will eat, but it should not come at the cost of sustainable development for our region.” Zora said.
The MCAs were also vocal about their unwavering support for Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, indicating that the Kamba community remains loyal to their longtime leader.
