Wiper Patriotic Front Party unveils candidate for Mumbuni North ward by-election

The political landscape in Machakos County is heating up as the Wiper Patriotic Front party gears up for the upcoming Mumbuni North Ward by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025.

At the forefront of this campaign is the party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, who is passionately urging the residents of Mumbuni North to rally behind the party’s chosen candidate, Anthony Kyalo Kisoi.

In a rallying call directed at his supporters via telephone, Musyoka articulated that the by-election serves as a crucial test for the party.

“The Mumbuni North Ward by-election marks the beginning of our march to State House in 2027. Come out in large numbers to make a statement. We are ready to go to the House on the Hill.” Kalonzo said.

The launch event, held at Kisooni open grounds, saw a significant turnout of Wiper supporters adorned in party-branded apparel.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, alongside a star-studded lineup of party leaders from the Ukambani region, spearheaded the campaign launch for Kisoi.

The gathering included prominent figures such as Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama, Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, and several Members of Parliament, all united in their support for the party’s candidate.

Each speaker at the event underscored the necessity of a united front within the party and called upon the constituency to demonstrate their commitment to the Wiper cause.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti emphasized that the by-election extends beyond Mumbuni North. “It is a definitive moment that could solidify Musyoka’s influence and popularity not just in Ukambani, but nationally.” Governor Wavinya said while encouraging voters to view their participation as a vote of confidence in Kalonzo’s anticipated presidential ambitions in 2027.

Mwangangi noted the competitive nature of the race, identifying it as a direct contest between the Wiper party and their rival, Maendeleo Chap Chap.

He stressed the importance of showcasing Wiper’s continued dominance in the region, urging constituents to reaffirm their loyalty on the day of the election.

The sentiments echoed by Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa, who portrayed the contest as critical not only for local governance but also for the broader political narrative.

He relayed a message reportedly sent by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, cautioning Mumbuni residents against “embarrassing” Kalonzo in the upcoming election, reaffirming the stakes involved.
