Machakos deputy governor critiques President Ruto’s approach in Kamba community

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has spoken out against President William Ruto’s recent comments during a visit to Makueni County.

The President’s assertion that he would ensure the Kamba community aligns with his political agenda has sparked significant backlash, with Mwangangi emphasizing the need for a more respectful and constructive approach to engaging Kamba community.

Speaking during a workshop in Mombasa, Mwangangi criticized Ruto for inciting fear within the Kamba community through his declarations, arguing that coercive tactics will not win the hearts and minds of voters.

“Kambas will not be shaken by your scaring sentiments.” Mwangangi said.

The Deputy Governor reassured the Kamba community that despite any enticing offers, the community remains staunchly behind Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

“As much as he’s welcome to tour any part of the country as the head of the nation, the president should not have taken that direction. Creating fear in the community is not the way forward.” Said Mwangangi.

He also took issue with the President’s dismissal of the opposition, labeling it as an indirect insult to political opponents.

“Dismissing the opposition as people without an agenda is nothing short of chest-thumping.” He said.

Mwangangi further warned that the upcoming elections would not merely be a competition between parties but rather a significant moment for the Kenyan people to choose a path forward.

“Whether they like it or not, the coming election will be squarely between Kenyans and one individual by the name ‘William Ruto’ and nothing short of that.” Mwangangi said.

Mwangangi urged the government to prioritize the completion of long-standing projects rather than embarking on new initiatives that risk becoming another set of “white elephants.”

“Let the government show its true commitment through development initiation by first pushing for the completion of stalled projects.” He said.
