Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has directed Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua to refrain from meddling in the affairs of the county government.
The governor, speaking during the launch of the Agripreneur Model at Kasinga coffee factory grounds, made it clear that her administration should operate free from the shadows of past leadership.
Governor Wavinya pointed out her own conduct during Mutua’s tenure, emphasizing that she respected his governance by only visiting the county during election periods.
“I was popularly elected by men and women of sound mind because they had faith and saw leadership qualities in me,” she said.
In a powerful statement aimed at her detractors, Wavinya declared that any disparagement directed at her was, in fact, an insult to those who voted for her.
“Stop looking at my skirt,” she quipped, sending a clear message that her focus is on governance and development rather than on personal attacks.
In her address to farmers and young entrepreneurs from the county’s forty electoral wards, Wavinya expressed her administration’s commitment to invest heavily in the agricultural sector.
She also announced the distribution of forty motorcycles to agricultural extension officers.
“This initiative aims to improve communication and support for farmers, especially at the grassroots level, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive.” She said.
Wavinya said that over 40,000 farmers have been digitized across Machakos, a move designed to modernize agricultural practices and increase efficiency.
