The championship match held the audience in suspense concluding with a thrilling penalty shootout after a goalless draw against Scottlanders FC in regular time.
Ultimately Katwanyaa prevailed 3–1 in penalties demonstrating their unwavering determination to maintain their status as champions.
This latest victory also brought with it a substantial reward of Ksh 1,000,000 for the Falcons while the runners-up, Scottlanders FC received Ksh. 500,000.
In the women’s category, Jua Kali Queens proved their mettle by clinching victory against Talanta Queens in a fiercely contested final.
The decisive moment came in the 48th minute with a brilliant goal by Mercy Kamwilwa cementing her place as a key player in this year’s tournament.
Jua Kali Queens also walked away with Ksh. 1,000,000 while their opponents from Kalama Sub-County took home Ksh. 500,000.
In the men’s playoffs, Mavoko Youth FC faced Kathiani Eagles in a high-stakes encounter.
A thrilling clash ensued filled with skillful plays and dramatic moments resulting Mavoko Youth FC edging out the Eagles with a 3-2 victory.
In a curtain raiser match that set the stage, County Executive football team put on a superb performance securing a decisive 2-0 victory over County Assembly FC.
The action kicked off with a brilliant goal from Teddy Munguti in the first half sending the crowd into a frenzy.
The second half continued to build excitement as Bonface Ochieng added to the tally with a well-placed shot following an expertly crafted pass from Captain Charles Nzuki.
Despite numerous attempts by County Assembly FC to equalize including a close-range shot that rattled the crossbar, they were unable to penetrate the solid defense and remarkable performances from goalkeeper Onesmus Ituo.
The women’s category featured an equally gripping match where Kavwea Starlets from Masinga Sub-County faced off against the Kathituni Queens from Yatta Sub-County.
Kavwea Starlets emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win, thanks to a brilliant second-half goal from Joy Chebet.
Governor Wavinya cup has seen consistent growth with participation increasing significantly from 640 teams in previous years to this year’s 650 teams and a remarkable total of 14,300 players.
The tournament’s impact is palpable with numerous inspiring success stories emerging from its ranks.
Notably, Felix Mwendwa earned a chance to showcase his talent internationally in Spain while several young women have progressed to join the prestigious Harambee Starlets Under-17 team.
Additionally, one player’s journey led her to Police Bullets as she underwent police training at Kiganjo.
