Vuka Festival: Welcoming the New Year in style at Machakos People’s Park

As 2025 draws to a close, Machakos County is set to ring in the New Year with vigor and creativity at the Vuka Festival.

Spearheaded by Governor Wavinya Ndeti the vibrant celebration will take place at the Machakos People’s Park on December 31, offering an array of activities that will engage families and foster community spirit.

Central to the festival’s mission is its commitment to celebrating the family unit which is seen as a vital part of the societies across cultures, religions and moral traditions.

As families come together to celebrate the New Year, they will experience the rich tapestry of music, art and culture that defines Machakos.

The festival not only focuses on family values but also provides a significant platform for over 300 local creatives from all sub-counties to showcase their talents.

The artists will present their work on a grand stage allowing them to gain exposure and recognition in a supportive environment.

The festival is also aimed at providing financial support to local creatives.

“Proceeds from the event will help cushion these artists against the economic challenges often faced in the first quarter of the year.” One of the organisers said.

During the event, vendors and local entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to showcase their products fostering direct sales and service provision.

As part of a grand New Year’s celebration, the festival will feature an impressive lineup of performances with headliners such as Willy Paul, Nadia Mukami, Maima and Stephen Kasolo amongst others captivating the audience.

Additionally, festival-goers can expect a lively atmosphere with traditional foods, drinks and exhilarating fashion shows.

The event also offers an opportunity for the people of Machakos to review and appreciate the achievements of Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration.

Everyone is invited to come and experience the warmth of family and creativity as they usher in the New Year in Machakos.
